BOWLING CLUB NEWS (MAY 2018)

After a seemingly endless winter and wet spring the outdoor season has begun.

The green is in great shape after a thorough autumn / winter / early spring treatment. Mr C Walters and other members have already cut and swept the green in readiness for the opening of the green.

Mrs J Fryer, Mrs A Walters, Mrs B Carter and myself have helped sort the pavilion in readiness and ensured that our catering box that comes into use for friendlies is well stocked.

Club evenings at 6.00pm for a prompt 6.15 start are underway and we all hope that some warm sunny evenings will help us ensure happy friendly club evenings. The TRIPLES competition is being drawn each club night and the committee hopes this new format will ensure all members having the opportunity to play with different members each week. Friendlies and menís league details are on the club schedule and also on the parish web site.

As we play in our 35th season within the grounds of the Siward James and Arkwright Trust we will always welcome new players. We can supply woods if you have none and only ask that you wear smooth soled footwear to protect the green.

We are already planning our social event, a Hog Roast and we are delighted to have secured the same company to prepare the hog as last year. This will take place on SUNDAY 12th August 2018 and it is open to members, family, friends and villagers. This has always been a happy village event and more details will be published next month.

I hope we all have a happy warm summer and even if you do not want to try the game of bowls you will always be welcome to come and watch.
