Talk: Wildlife of Finland
Wednesday 3rd July 7pm

Venue: Marden Community Lounge, Marden Primary Academy, Marden Hereford, HR1 3DT.

Cost: No booking required! A donation of £2.00per HWT member and £3.00 per non-member would be appreciated.



Queenswood Pollinator Festival
Saturday 6th July

  • Talk: Bumble Bee Identification, 10am to 11am
  • Talk: Save the Bees - what does this actually mean though?, 11.30 to 12.30pm
  • Family Bee & Butterfly Walk, 1pm to 2.30pm
  • Bug Bonanza, 2 to 4 pm

    Outdoor Theatre: Toad of Toad Hall,
    Sunday 14th July, 1.30pm


    The Dreamshed Theatre Company present Toad of Toad Hall: the tale of this well-loved character and his friends from the river bank.

    Venue: Bodenham Lake Nature Reserve, Bodenham, Herefordshire, HR1 3JT.

    Cost: £6 adults; £3 children, booking essential.



    Summer Snail Day:
    slow pace, beautiful space, nature connection and creative reflection
    Saturday 20th July, 10 to 3pm

    A day of nature connection and experimental creativity with Alice Savery. We will explore the natural spaces of the Arboretum and woodland and really look at the natural surroundings to see what we can find. We will play with creativity through collecting, creating and sharing – no previous art experience necessary.

    Adventure Club
    Runs every Tuesday of the summer holidays, 9am to 4pm

    Summer-inspired adventures in the woods. Activities include campfire cooking, fire lighting, den building, using tools, games, seasonal crafts and more! For children aged 7 to 13 years old, unaccompanied.

    Get Crafty!
    Runs every Wednesday of the summer holidays, 1.30 to 3.30pm

    Summer, nature-inspired crafts for ages 2 to 12 years with free sensory play for under 2s.

    Outdoor Cinema Screening – Labyrinth!
    Friday August 16th 2019 9pm – 10.40pm
    (Parking from 7.30pm)


    Venture through the trees and prepare to journey into the Labyrinth in this classic Jim Henson 80s fantasy movie. The late, great David Bowie, young starlet Jennifer Connelly and a whole host of unforgettable characters, songs and stunning visuals combine to create a nostalgic trip filled with magic, danger and adventure. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. The film is rated U. Ticket price includes parking. You are welcome to bring picnics to the event, including soft drinks, however no alcohol is permitted.

    Watercolour Painting at Bodenham Lake –
    reflections, refractions and wonders of light!

    Sunday 18th August, 10am - 4pm


    This workshop, led by Herefordshire Wildlife Trust’s Artist-in-Residence Richard Bavin, is aimed at those with some experience of watercolour painting.

    We will be sketching outdoors in the morning at Bodenham Lake Nature Reserve which offers both the lake and the River Lugg as subjects for your paintings. Richard will give an introductory tutorial then one-to-one guidance.

    In the afternoon, we will relocate indoors to the Jubilee Building at Queenswood Country Park, a few minutes’ drive away. Richard will give a tutorial on experimental techniques then the afternoon will focus on developing a finished painting from your morning’s sketches.

    Walk: foraging for medicinal herbs and flowers
    Saturday 24th August, 10am to 12 noon and again from 1pm to 3pm

    Qualified medical herbalist Rowan McOnegal will lead a two-hour ramble around Queenswood identifying herbs and flowers and discussing their medicinal and edible uses.
