Herefordshire Council Notice

Since it started seven weeks ago the Talk Community Covid-19 Response service has received more than 3,000 telephone calls. Over 40 council staff were deployed to support the telephony service (Telephone Number: 01432-260027) and it has been available 7 days a week from 8.00am-8.00pm on weekdays and from 10.00am-4.00pm over weekends. At its peak it was receiving 180 calls a day and this allowed it to respond to over 1,500 requests for support for the most vulnerable people in the County, with the main areas being for supplies and medication collection.

Over the past few weeks the number of calls has significantly reduced and now averages 50 per day, which indicates that the needs of the vulnerable are being met, either in their communities, through the Talk Community Service, or within their own networks. Plans are therefore being made to provide a more long term and sustainable service.

The weekend of 16/17 May will be the last weekend that the telephony support will be open. On Bank Holiday Monday, 25 May it will be open from 10.00am-4.00pm and from 26 May it will be available from 9.00am-5.00pm Monday to Friday, with the Blueschool House staff providing the support. This will allow a permanent service to continue to meet a reduced demand when council staff are redeployed back to their normal posts.

Out of hours support through the Adult Social Care service remains available, as does as the NHS 111 service.
