TALK COMMUNITY PROGRAMME UPDATE (5 NOVEMBER)

Herefordshire Councilís Talk Community Programme have issued the following information:

Following the announcement that a second lockdown will be commencing we have been planning the Talk Community Covid response. Working in partnership with local community groups, parishes and ward members, Talk Community will again be providing support to our communities including those residents considered most vulnerable as a result of the lockdown.

As you may be aware the Talk Community helpline continued in business as usual following the first lockdown and from next week this will be available 8am-6pm Monday to Friday and 9am-1pm on Saturday where vulnerable people, or those who are isolating, can seek support with online supermarket delivery slots, available with Tesco and Iceland facilitated by the Talk Community team, or by registering with the National Shielding Service System (NSSS), food and medication supplies and befriending. Where possible the Talk Community team will connect those requiring support into local communities or with volunteers by working in partnership with hvoss and the community networks. In addition the online form will also be available to register a request for support, please see the following link for all contact details Ė https://www.herefordshire.gov.uk/covid19help

To support with connecting vulnerable individuals into the communities, the link worker role will be re-established and will cover each Primary Care Network (PCN) across the county (see this map). Each PCN will have a link worker supervisor covering the areas in the table below:

The Halo reimbursement scheme is available, as before, should volunteers need to shop on behalf of the vulnerable person who has limited access to funds. Available where needed to support payment of shopping, the volunteer provides a copy of the receipt that they have paid on behalf of the person supported. The volunteer submits the receipt to Halo who will transfer this money via PayPal to the volunteer and the Council arrange payment from the person supported.

The guidance for the Clinically Extremely Vulnerable (CEV) is now available on the following link: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/clinically-extremely-vulnerable-receive-updated-guidance-in-line-with-new-national-restrictions and a national letter will be sent to all CEVís over the coming days informing them of the guidance.
