Bodenham Parish Council Notice

PARISH COUNCIL NEWS (DECEMBER 2020 - JANUARY 2021)

The next Parish Council meeting is scheduled to take place on Monday 7th December at the Siward James Centre., but any continuation the ‘Rule of Six’ and/or Lockdown 2.0 means that it is unlikely that a face-to-face meeting will be possible. At the time of writing it sounds as though Tier 1 restrictions (which include the ‘Rule of Six’) will either continue or be strengthened, so a face-to-face meeting seems unlikely. Instead the Parish Council hopes to hold the meeting via Zoom. If this proves possible, the Meeting ID and Password will be published on all forums as soon as they are known.

If you require further information or wish to raise any matter in advance of the meeting, please contact Chris Smith, Parish Clerk, on 01568 797132 or by email at bodenhampcclerk@gmail.com.

The Precept………
…… is the Parish Council’s share of your council tax. It appears separately on your council tax bill. The Parish Council has requested a sum of £15000 for 2021-22, which is the same as was requested in each of the previous two years, and which compares favourably with other parishes in Herefordshire. One neighbouring parish’s precept is more than three times that of Bodenham.

Reporting Potholes and Other Defects
Please note that, although the Parish Clerk is frequently asked to report defects (especially potholes and blocked drains), the Locality Steward for Bodenham has asked that residents report defects themselves, because they know exactly where the defect is and what it is. It is easy to do. The Herefordshire Council website has a reporting tool at https://www.herefordshire.gov.uk/report-problem which is very easy to use. https://www.fixmystreet.com/ is a national site and is even easier to use: it uses the Ordnance Survey map, which is more accurate and detailed than the Herefordshire Council map. FixMyStreet will forward a report to Herefordshire Council about any problem reported within a Herefordshire postcode.

Vacancy on the Parish Council
One vacancy on the Parish Council has still to be filled. Please put yourself forward or nominate someone (with their permission). It is hoped that the vacancy will be filled at the earliest possible opportunity.
.
The SID (Speed Indicator Device)…….
…… will be replaced as soon as possible. Balfour Beatty have been approached for a recommendation and several companies have been approached. Two residents have kindly volunteered to do the job of transporting the SID from location to location. So, it will happen. Please be patient.

Community Speed Watch
The Parish Council applied some years ago to introduce a Community Speed Watch in the Village, but the application has been delayed by several factors outside the Parish Council’s control. Recently, progress has been made towards starting the Scheme. Watch this space.

Planning Applications
Recent applications to which the Parish Council has responded include:

  • 202245/6: Broom Cottage: Proposed replacement windows to existing cottage, demolish and replace front porch, new roof to existing conservatory, two storey rear extension and associated works.
  • The Parish Council had no objection to this application.
