UPDATE ON CHURCH SERVICES (AS AT 27 MARCH)

The weekly update from Revd Paul Roberts:

Tomorrow is Palm Sunday and we begin to re-open our churches for public worship. Tomorrow we have services at the Amberley Chapel and Holy Trinity, Preston Wynne (at 9.30am and 11.15am respectively). We have taken bookings at Amberley and this small church building is now full – so if you have not already spoken to Jo or Henry, regrettably we won’t be able to fit you in. However, we have online worship for Palm Sunday, recorded at Sutton St Michael available as well and palm crosses are available.

Beginning to meet together is a source of joy and anxiety… a mix of emotions that are reflected in the story of Palm Sunday itself – the great joy of the crowds and the anxiety of the disciples, the latter knowing what a fickle and dangerous place Jerusalem could be.

We long for the day when we can worship and sing together without restrictions, but in the meantime, please be assured that every care is being taken to keep people safe. Thank you to everyone who has worked so hard to prepare our churches for re-opening. Please note that masks should still be worn during worship and use should be made of hand sanitiser stations. However, amid these precautions, we can be sure that when two or three gather together – whether we can sing or not – our Lord Jesus Christ will be with us.

I hope to see a good many of you over this coming Holy Week.

With every blessing for the coming week,

Paul

PS. Don’t forget the clocks go forward tonight!

Online Worship

This morning’s worship can be accessed here:

This will be the last Sunday service published on Youtube.

We can't believe that it has been a whole year since Bishop Richard began his weekly videos as lockdown began last year. He’d love to know which message was your favourite or was the most memorable!

In your prayers

Please do pray for the following people and situations on Sunday and in the coming week ahead.

  • For those ill or housebound at this time: Jean Archer, John Benson, Chris and Vic Burles, June and Elizabeth Gwynne, Gwen Heal, Mike Henderson, Janet Lloyd, Bob Merry, Wayne Rock, Rev Iain Skinner, Ray Williams, Rhoda Woodcock and all those at St Michael’s Hospice.

  • For the souls of Neil Arlett, Jo Cornelius, Pat Horrigan and Paul Russell and their families at this time.

  • In brief

  • Pat Horrigan’s funeral will take place at 2pm at St Michael’s Church, Bodenham on 6th April. Regrettably owing to current restrictions the service is by invitation only. The funeral cortege will leave Brockington Road around 1.20pm – those in the area may wish to show their support of the family by standing en route (suitably socially distanced).

  • I will be on leave from 7th April to 13th April inclusive.

  • Resumption of public worship
We shall re-open our churches for worship during Holy Week and Easter. Full details below – please note the times on Easter Day, which are not necessarily “normal” Sunday times. All the COVID precautions will be taken as before. Details of worship for the remainder of April will be published next week and in parish magazines.

Easter and April 2021 Church Services

In addition, Bodenham Church will be open for private prayer and visiting in daylight hours from this week. Marden Church will re-open for library access and prayer after Easter shortly… watch this space for more info.

    Short Compline Service during Lent
Rosie will lead a short service of Celtic Compline through Holy Week. The service will take place at 9.30pm through the Maund Churches Facebook page and last for around 5 minutes.

    Lent Course
We meet for a final time at 2.30pm on Maundy Thursday and will look at the Eco-Church project and ways in which we can respond to the issues raised in our Lent Course as a group of churches. You do not need to have joined us previously to take part in these sessions to come to this session and hear more about this Christian response to climate change.

    Rosie’s latest ambitious target

For those of you wondering whether Rosie has just been swanning after running and walking in January and February. She has actually been cycling this month, raising funds for Oxfam – and I must apologise for not letting you know earlier about it! Her target is 200km (125miles in old money) and she is 83% of her way to reaching it. If you like to support her, please do follow this link.
