Bodenham Flood Protection Group Notice

BFPG UPDATE JUNE 2021

This month, Adrian, the BFPG Operations Manager, gives us information on flood barriers and where to find information/help.

Information as of April 2021

Now the better weather is on its way it is a good time to think about your flood protection. If you have flood barriers, check the condition of the rubber seals as these have been proven to perish/ come unstuck, and check the operation of airbrick covers. If you have sandbags, they should be stored in the dry as they deteriorate at a very fast rate if left outside for long periods because they are bio-degradable. If your property was issued with flood barriers you are responsible for their upkeep or in extreme cases their replacement.

By taking action now you will not only identify any remedial action required, you will also have peace of mind that what you have is “fit for purpose”.

By carrying out the above you will also minimise the workload put on the Flood Group at a time of potential flooding.

For information on various businesses that you may find helpful please click on the ‘more details’ link below.

New BSI (British Standard Institute)

October 1st 2019, BS 851188 replaced the previous publicly-available specification for flood protection products and systems, PAS 1188.

So, check if any new products you are buying conform to the latest specification.
