Bodenham Parish Council Notice

Parish Council Meetings
Once again the Parish Council is unable to hold a face-to-face meeting. The extension to the date for the removal of restrictions until 19th July means that the Meeting scheduled for 5th July cannot take place, because the ban on remote or virtual meetings by order of the High Court remains in place.

However, Parish Council business is still being conducted in the normal way by means of delegated powers to the Clerk. In addition, the Parish Council has been holding monthly, unofficial informal meetings to discuss current issues.

If the 19th July lifting of restrictions goes ahead, the next formal Parish Council Meeting will be held at 7pm on Monday, 2nd August at Siward James. This Meeting will, in effect, be the annual AGM, which should have taken place in May - hence the 7pm start - and will begin with the Annual Parish and Annual Parish Council Meetings.

For further information, or if you wish to raise any matter in advance of a meeting, please contact Chris Smith, Parish Clerk, on 01568-797132 or by email at bodenhampcclerk@gmail.com. Minutes of Parish Council Meetings are available on this Website at here.

Village Fete on 31st July
A Summer Fete will be held on Saturday, 31st July Bodenham Parish Hall from 12 noon until 6pm.

Litter Picks
Two litter pick dates for your diary: Saturdays 6th November 2021 and 19th March 2022. Full details will appear in the September Newsletter. (There is no Newsletter in August).

Closure of Moreton Level Crossing
The level crossing at Moreton will be closed overnight on 17th July from 23.00 until 09.40 for one night’s work on the railway track.

Vacancies on the Parish Council
There are now two vacancies on the Parish Council. Neither vacancy can be filled immediately, because remote or virtual meetings are no longer legally permitted and are, in any case, in the view of the Parish Council not a conducive medium for allowing the usual procedures for making a co-option to the Parish Council to be followed. Accordingly, it is hoped that the vacancies will be filled at the next face-to-face Meeting.

The SID (Speed Indicator Device)…….
…… has finally been delivered and will be deployed soon in the usual places on the C1125, Millcroft Road and near the War Memorial on the C1121 in rotation on a schedule agreed by Herefordshire Council. The SID is bright yellow and very noticeable. It includes an ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) camera.

The Parish Council Website(s)
The new Bodenham Parish Council Website - www.bodenhamparishcouncil.gov.uk
- will go officially live on 1st July. From this date the old Parish Council website - www.bodenhamparish.org.uk - will no longer be updated, though it will remain accessible until November.

Bodenham Post Office
Having received no reply to a previous request, the Parish Council has written to the Post Office again asking whether the Mondays only 12.00-13.00 visits by a mobile post office to Bache’s forecourt is to be a permanent arrangement. The Parish Council is keen to make such visits longer and more frequent.

Reporting Potholes and Other Defects
Please note that, although the Parish Clerk is frequently asked to report defects (especially potholes and blocked drains), the Locality Steward for Bodenham has asked that residents report defects themselves, because they know exactly where the defect is and what it is.

It is easy to do. The Herefordshire Council website has a reporting tool at https://www.herefordshire.gov.uk/report-problem which is very easy to use. www.fixmystreet.com is a national site and is even easier to use: it uses the Ordnance Survey map, which is more accurate and detailed than the Herefordshire Council map. FixMyStreet will forward a report to Herefordshire Council about any problem reported within a Herefordshire postcode.
